Gentle Yet Fierce

Imagine standing face-to-face with a lion—majestic, powerful, yet unexpectedly gentle. That’s the feeling this pencil drawing captures, showing God as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah in all His complexity—both deeply loving and fiercely protective.

On one side of the lion's face, there’s a tenderness that speaks of a Father who cares for His children, just like Psalm 103:13 says: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” This is the God who walks with you in your struggles, gently guiding you through life. His kindness isn't weakness; it’s the strength that holds you up when you feel like crumbling.  

But then, look at the other side. This lion isn’t just gentle—he’s fierce. His eyes burn with a righteous fire, his teeth bared in defense. This is the God who fights for you, the protector who stands against anything that threatens His people. Revelation 5:5 declares, “Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed.” He is victorious, and He calls you to trust in His power. As you look at this artwork, let it remind you that God isn’t just one or the other—He is both. He loves you with a gentle heart and also wages war against anything that comes against you. That’s the lion of Judah.
