You are Chosen

”Israel”

God’s heart has always been near and dear to Israel. Within its borders lies Mount Zion, an area where the Lord rests His feet.

“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord.” Zechariah 2:10 ESV

It astounds me that God is so relational. Of all things He can be doing with His time, He chooses to spend it with His people and dwell in our midst. The Israelites were special, God’s chosen people that had VIP access to God. And yet He didn’t stop there. Through the gift of salvation God gave EVERYONE that same access to be His people and spend their lives WITH God. 🤯 That’s why this piece is so special to me. It may have started with Israel, but through adoption, God extended this gift to know Him to everyone else as well.

This watercolor piece is adorned in various shades of blue to represent the flag of Israel and is shaped like a heart to represent God’s love for His people.

Questions to share the wonder:

1. What does it mean to you personally that God chooses to dwell among His people, as described in Zechariah 2:10?

2. Did you know that adopted children had the same rights as biological children? They are legitimate children which means they have the same rights to receive inheritance, emotional support, and financial support from their adoptive parents.

3. How does that shift your perspective that you were adopted into God’s family?

4. What emotions arise when you think about having the same access to God as His chosen people, the Israelites?

5. How do you experience God’s relational nature in your own life, and what helps you recognize His heart for you?
