What’s on Your Mind?
”Lilies”
Worry seems to get me bogged down more than I’d like to admit. I have a feeling I’m not the only one. We worry about all kinds of things and yet, does worrying add a single moment to our lives? Sadly, all that spiraling into chaos gets me nowhere. I don’t know what I’m expecting after my worry sesh. Maybe I’m hoping I will feel better? Or just want to throw a pity party about my situation? Or that worrying will magically make my problems go away? I’m not sure.
Our minds can become a dark place sometimes. But it doesn’t have to be!
We have the power to shift our focus from thinking worst case scenario to CHOOSING to remember that God will take care of us. When my thoughts are spiraling, I literally have to tell myself to “STOP!” Which gives me some control back and remind myself what God says. If God takes care of lilies, He will surely take care of me and the things I need. Lilies require sunlight, shelter, water, nutrients… and are stunning! God knows what they need and He provides those things for them to grow. They require dependance on God for their survival. And so do we! Thankfully, we are FAR more valuable to God than those lovely flowers. He takes care of them and He will also take care of us. So don’t worry. He’s got you!
“Consider the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”
Luke 12:27-28 NLT
KEEP THE CONVO GOING
1. You are so valuable to God! What do you think makes you so precious to Him?
2. What have you been worrying about this week?
3. Are there things you secretly think God cannot or will not take care of in your life? Why do you think that?
4. God gives us a glimpse of his resume that he’s trustworthy and a good caretaker in Luke 12:27-28. What would help you to trust God more?
